Friday, May 02, 2003 The Gride and Broom I spent two wonderful days in Purchase. I got to do a lot of fun stuff there, like going to the biggest store I have ever seen, and going to a science fair. Just like in the movies, little kids with their science projects. It was adorable. On my visit to Purchase I also learned a lot about American weddings. Well, at least the American wedding I will be going to. I never realized how much work goes into this and how stressful it is for the bride and groom. There are billion things to get done for all to go the way it is supposed to. Like finding a bird cage. Now, one would wonder, what does one use a bird cage for? Birds? No. It is to stand on the gift table for envelopes with money in it. Favors. What are favors? Those are presents to everyone who comes to the wedding. Gift baskets to put in the hotel rooms of the guests that stay overnight. Toys for the childrens table. Now to explain, this favor thingie, is just not picking out something cute from a store, like a bag of pretsels. My bride and groom are giving a gift of a CD with all the songs fom the wedding. This gift includes this work for them: Picking the songs and downloading them from the internet. There is the song for cutting the cake, the dance with the father of the bride, the mother of the groom.... and many more. Agreeing on the choice of music. Agreeing on in which order the songs will be. Surfing the internet for the right price of CD's. Surfing the internet for the right price of labels. Surfing the internet for the right price of stickers. If right price not found on the internet, find it somewhere else and bargain. Burning 150 CD's. Choosing words to put on CD. Agreeing on everything. This is just one of million things that have to be agreed on. What color should the pillow be that the wedding bands rest on? I predict the bride going insane before getting wed. Actually, I have to tell you guys how amazing the bride is. She went to the hair trial (translates: doing the hairdo she is going to have on the day). My girl wanted so much to show her girlfriends (reads: me) that she kept the hairdo for the rest of the day until I arrived from the city. She didn't let the tiara stop her from running errands. You should see the photos from the supermarket. Never has such grace entered that supermarket, or such a beautiful tiara. My girl proudly got by passers to take photos. Now this is why I love her. Next: Skottustelpa goes to Orchid street and buys a bra. posted by Skotta | 7:44 AM |
